Here are some examples of the sounds taken from the just released cd "Oh No Not Emily" recorded at The Beacon Street Studios which is located somewhere off Abbot Kinney Blvd. in Veniec California in March and May, 2003 and mixed at the Pod close to the flight pattern of LAX by Rob Beaton and Mark Weber and this is not a run-on sentence. These sound files are MP3.
You can actually order the cd which has the full length version of all of these songs from the good people at cdbaby.com . I STRONGLY ENCOURAGE YOU TO DO THIS! Those digitally inclined can find full length versions of all of these songs available for both listening and purchase from the very good people of itunes. I think the name of the artist they use is "totally honest productions".
We also have video clips taken directly from the show available for viewing over the internet provided by the good people at youtube.com! (links provided below)

Overture. Whereby the musical palette is tantalized
with a foretaste of the music that will follow. In a burst of pride and
generosity, you can download the entire overture if you like, but it is
a rather large sound file. Wanna see a picture

greets his students by reviewing their more recent work in light of his
latest theory, The Agency of Transgender Normatization and the Use of
Vowels in the Poetry of Emily Dickinson. Pressed by his students to explain
BOTH his brilliance AND his modesty, the Professor Reppep explains it
patiently in song.

Professor Reppep begins to lecture about his latest
paper delivered at some conference. While he drones on, the continuing
grad students, realizing what's important, begin to speculate on the arrival
of The New Dean and What It All Means. They soon work themselves in such
a tizzy, by speculating on the fate of their LAN configuration or the
amount of free photocopying permissible, that even Professor Reppep notices
their lack of attention. The students' concerns cause them to burst into
song.

Professor Reppep resolves himself
to go and actually talk to the new Dean and see what his actual agenda
is. The students then query Molly as to her REAL reasons for coming to
grad School. She replies that wishes to study the poetry of Emily Dickinson
to free her stiffled creative muse. The continuing grad students remind
Molly that before she even begins to think of doing anything regarding
her plans academically she must first jump though the curriculum
hoops know as the core curriculum, the subtleties and virtues of which
are hammered forth in song.

Professor Reppep retruns to more songs of tribute and
joy. He reports the exceedingly bad news that the
new Dean is an empiricist of the first order and has issued a decree (memo)
that henceforth only direct observation unmediated by theory will be accepted
as valid research by The Powers That Be. While Professor Reppep recognizes
that means his students will have to basically start their studies anew,
he cheers them up with the observation that at least he has tenure.

Before they are committed to the entire song, Bob explains
that he has found in a family trunk some letters he believes are from
Emily Dickinson and in these letters are some poems. The students express
their excitement in song.

After evaluating the content, paper, and handwriting
styles (especially entranced by the little hearts over the 'i's') the
students positively identify the poem as a hitherto unknown original poem
by Emily Dickinson.

As is their wont, the students begin to sing. The celebration
of the students is short-circuited as Bob reclaims his poem and inquires
as to its value. In money.

Off the merry students and teachers go. Pater Forger
enters and learns that his son has made his first score to the tune of
the entire English Department book budget. While he is justifiably proud
of his son, Bob himself begins to question the legitimacy the family business.
His father reminds him of the postmodern ideological underpinnings to
forgery as a profession in song and dance.

After cautioning his son to remove any trace of his
visit, Pater Forger leaves. As Bob begins to do so, Molly enters. She
confesses her dream of writing poetry and her opinion that writing poetry
is nearly impossible because "poetry must be true". She does
this in words and song.

Bob disagrees. He states that writing poetry is quite
easy; it being more a matter of presentation and confidence and that furthermore
anyone can write poetry. They discuss the matter via a charming duet.

While not totally convinced of his argument, Molly appreciates
Bob's attempts to help. To thank him she conceives of having an Emily
Dickinson Family Fun Day and Parade and summons the other grad students
to listen to her plan. The other students think this is a fine idea and
immediately form several committees. END OF ACT II.

ACT III. Bonnie and the Professor narrate for the television
audience the sights, sounds and spectacles of the Emily Dickinson Family
Fun Day and Parade. After the parade the students and faculty thank the
Bob, the grand marshall of the parade, for all he has done. Molly gives
him some lemonade.

As Bob prepares to leave, Molly attempts to write a
poem worthy of Emily Dickinson. She fails. In comparing her poem to those
of Ms. Dickinson, Molly notes the cause of her failure lies in that her
poem can not be sung to the "Yellow Rose of Texas", like all
the other Emily Dickinson poems in existence. She and Bob note this odd
fact in song.

Molly then notes that the poem produced by Bob also
does not scan to "The Yellow Rose of Texas". Noting other hitherto
unnoticed features of the poem she deduces the poem is a forgery and Bob
is a fraud
|
||||
|
Bob defends his actions as a reasonable response to
postmodernism academia. His rationalization, and the lame response by
the other grad students and professor, so infuriates Molly that she A)
issues a stinging rebuttal of her own about Truth and Art and Grad School
and B) finally writes a decent poem of her own. Her breakthrough is noted
in song.

discover they can write poetry too and do so. They also celebrate and
thank Bob in song.
